Old English Inns - Content Management and online booking
Old English Inns is a chain of over 130 destination based hotels and pubs. Each pub or hotel manages its own operation under the umbrella of a national brand identity and guidelines therein. Thump’s remit concerned the development of the main website, eCommerce and booking online, individual websites for each hotel, inn and pub plus a comprehensive Content Management System both of the main website and individual owner/occupiers.
The nature of an Old English Inn Hotel or Pub is somewhat inherent to its name. The properties tend to be individual, slightly quirky and certainly not a Premier Inn of four painted walls and a box. This created communication challenges in balancing the need for commercial expediency vs. the experiential messaging. The brand also had strong loyalty particularly with an older audience demographic, but clearly there was a need to broaden the appeal and expedite the commercial booking process.
Thump worked diligently to utilise legacy system and databases, but these were dated and cumbersome and required significant updating. From launch the website has enjoyed large increases in traffic and we continue to enhance the functionality and operation to achieve commercial successes.
